Fresno Building Healthy Communities’ Project Director to Serve on Measure P Committee

FRESNO, Calif. – The Parks, Arts and Recreation Committee for Measure P is starting to take shape with the recent announcement of members, including Kimberly McCoy, who works for Fresno Building Healthy Communities and has been a lifelong advocate for social justice in Fresno.

“The City of Fresno has long been a tale of two cities,” McCoy said. “South Fresno and North Fresno, only separated by a few city miles, are worlds apart in accessibility, amenities, opportunities and resources. These inequities are glaringly obvious, and motivated only by racism. Our Measure P journey and work toward more and better parks has been over a decade long, but it is the first step of many to creating one healthy Fresno, where all children and families can live healthy, safe and productive lives.”

Measure P is now the law of Fresno, after a California court denied a recent appeal, paving the way for the measure to begin generating revenue to build and repair our parks, and provide employment opportunities for our citizens.

“To have been chosen for the Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission for Measure P is an honor that will enable me to continue to build on my career while I help create #OneHealthyFresno,” McCoy said. “Measure P is a measure by and for the people. Together, we have accomplished great things. And together, we will accomplish many more.”
