Jessica Martinez Hernandez
Jessica Martinez-Hernandez joined Fresno Building Healthy Communities in 2020, initially working as a Community Health Worker under the COVID-19 Equity Project team.
Prior to her role at Fresno Building Healthy Communities, Jessica helped organize a public hall meeting in Fresno for farmworkers and warehouse workers who were exposed to pesticides at their job site and homes. This meeting then led to a litigation suit being filed on behalf of the families affected by the exposure to Chlorpyrifos.
Jessica has worked along with UC Merced Labor Center and the Department of Industrial Relations to organize a labor rights caravan for farm workers in the Central Valley.
During her time at Fresno Building Healthy Communities, Jessica has served as one of our Lead Community Health Workers, leading a team of Community Health Workers focusing on keeping students and their families safe by carrying out Contact Tracing efforts in partnership with Fresno Unified School District. In 2022, Jessica was promoted and now serves as a Project Manager, leading our Housing, Economic, and Land Use work.
Jessica graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Legal Studies.
In her spare time, Jessica enjoys hiking, biking, and taking long runs.
